I am a registered psychiatric nurse, practicing since 2003, and licensed with the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Manitoba. I hold a Master’s degree in Health Studies, a Bachelor of Science in Psychiatric Nursing from Brandon University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of Manitoba. I am also a trained EMDR therapist and have extensive training in supporting individuals with substance use and addiction-related challenges.
Over the years, I have had the privilege of working with a diverse range of clients experiencing anxiety, depression, panic, complex PTSD, and difficulties related to life transitions. I have a particular focus on first responders and frontline workers, understanding the unique pressures and trauma inherent in these roles. My work blends psychiatric nursing expertise, knowledge of psychopharmacology, and collaboration with physicians and psychiatrists to ensure a holistic and evidence-informed approach.
I also draw on my experience supporting individuals and families affected by substance use, whether clients are following a harm reduction or abstinence-based path. I strive to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients can explore their experiences, manage symptoms, and navigate challenges without the burden of guilt, shame, or stigma.
My approach is client-centered and strength-based — I believe that people are the experts in their own lives, and my role is to walk alongside them, providing guidance, tools, and encouragement. Building trust is central to my work, and I prioritize creating an environment where clients feel comfortable sharing their stories and developing strategies to find hope and resilience.
Reaching out for support is a courageous step, and I look forward to getting to know you, hearing your story, and supporting you on your journey toward growth and well-being.
