No matter our age, stage of life, past and present life experiences, life can be challenging for each of us. Feeling overwhelmed, like it is all just too much, or underwhelmed and left feeling like there must be more to life, are common feelings for many. Finding the balance in life can prove difficult in practice no matter how great it sounds in theory, but having a trusted guide can help. We are excited to offer counselling services and supports with multiple options for therapeutic approach and a wide range of strategies and tools that serve to effectively support children, youth and adults toward their individual counselling goals.

From a family systems perspective using attachment, trauma, strength-based approaches, we provide options for individual, parents, and parent-child sessions. Common areas of focus include depression, anxiety, anger management, grief and loss, and relationship support. We also have extensive experience in supporting parents of exceptional needs children.

Positive healthy relationships, including the therapeutic counselling relationship, should foster an experience of trust and safety. Our time together will be tailored to your individual needs using a collaborative approach to explore your presenting concerns, identify your counselling goals, and developing your counselling plan a part of which is completion.

Life is in a constant state of changes and can throw many surprises at us, and can at times feel overwhelming. While we cannot predict the outcome of any situation, we can take control of how we respond to certain situations. 

Individual counselling sessions are tailored to suit each clients’ need and comfort as we collaboratively work together to meet your specific counselling goals.  

Specializations in individual therapy include stress management (work related, life transitions, relationship), anxiety, panic attacks, trauma and abuse, depression, identity and self-esteem, and grief and loss.

Parent & Child Coping Skills

Managing Big Feelings Better

This service is a favourite among many of our clients, as it is often times one of the keys to a happier, healthier life for both children and parents. Improving a child’s ability to self-regulate with improved coping skills often leads to a more harmonious home environment and positive school experience.  

Working together in sessions with both the child and their parent/caregiver, we will build a coping skills toolkit. Big feelings will be explored and a variety of different coping skills will be introduced and practised. Parents will become confident as  their child’s self regulation coach and children will finish sessions with an individualized coping skills tool kit that they can use anywhere.

Also offered in a group setting of ten sessions twice a year

Relationship Coaching

Communication, Connection, Commitment

Vulnerability, communication, trust, and intimacy can be challenging areas within relationships. Sessions will focus on three key areas. First, to seek to uncover relationship interaction patterns using a family systems approach. Second, identify individual attachment profiles and explore how those attachment profiles impact relationship interaction.  Third, enhance communication effectiveness.

Whether in the early stages of your relationship or in the seasoned years taking the time to visit and understand these three areas can bring you increased connection and contentment within your relationship.

Making sense of


Anxiety is an emotion characterized by feelings of tension, worried thoughts and physical changes like increased blood pressure.

People with anxiety disorders usually have recurring intrusive thoughts or concerns. They may avoid certain situations out of worry. They may also have physical symptoms such as sweating, trembling, dizziness or a rapid heartbeat.

Relationship Challenges

Arguments and disagreements occur within all close relationships, and are a normal part of dealing with differences in ideas, beliefs, and perspectives.

However, chronic relationship conflict and stress is a serious issue. It has been linked to poorer mental and physical health1 and can affect other areas of life such as relationships with family and friends, and work colleagues2. Children also suffer when exposed to high levels of conflict at home, and are at greater risk for anxiety, depression, behavioural problems, and poorer health.

Learning effective and respectful ways to communicate differences is an important step in building a healthy, fulfilling relationship, and which can benefit our overall wellbeing and those around us.

Life Transitions

Life transitions are periods in life involving lots of change to your lifestyle. They might also be a result of important events that make you stop and evaluate your life. Life transitions may run smoothly but people often struggle to adjust to change and may find these periods of life highly stressful and perhaps distressing. People often have problems adjusting to the concept of entering ‘middle age’ and may experience what is commonly called a mid-life crisis – they may go out and buy a sports car, leave their partner for a younger person or make extravagant purchases. This is because people start to evaluate their lives and their successes, a process that can be very painful and emotional and in which people may feel stuck.
